This is one of the hardest questions we wrestle with—why does God allow evil? Why doesn’t He step in to stop every act of war, suffering, or injustice? The truth is, if God were to eliminate all evil instantly, He would have to eliminate us all—because we have all sinned.

The Bible makes it clear that every human is a sinner:

📖 Romans 3:23 - “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
📖 Ecclesiastes 7:20 - “Surely there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.”

Yet, instead of wiping us out, God shows patience, giving us time to repent. A perfect example of this is the two criminals crucified alongside Jesus (Luke 23:39-43). One mocked Jesus, while the other acknowledged his sins and asked for mercy. Jesus responded:

📖 Luke 23:43 - “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

That man had lived a lifetime of sin, yet in his final moments, he repented and was saved. This reveals God’s immense mercy—He gives everyone a chance.

📖 2 Peter 3:9 - “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Why Is It Easier to Do Evil?

Evil often brings instant gratification—it’s easy because someone else suffers while we get what we want. This is why so much of the world embraces corruption, selfishness, and cruelty.

On the other hand, doing good is hard. It often means suffering, being misunderstood, or standing alone. Even Jesus warned that following Him would not be easy:

📖Matthew 7:13-14 -  “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Yet, God calls us to trust His plan, even when the road is difficult.

God’s Justice Will Prevail

We don’t have to worry about evil going unpunished. God sees everything, and justice will come in His perfect time:

📖Galatians 6:7 -  “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”

For now, God allows both good and evil to exist so that people have the free will to choose Him. But one day, every action will be judged:

📖 2 Corinthians 5:10 - “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”

When God Doesn’t Answer the Way We Want

Many ask, “Where was God when my mother was sick?” or “Why didn’t He heal my father, even though they were faithful and God-fearing?” It’s painful when our prayers seem unanswered, but the Bible reminds us:

📖 Isaiah 55:8-9 - “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

What we see as loss, God sees as a step toward something greater. Death is not the end—it is the beginning of eternal life for those who trust in Him.

A powerful example of this is Joseph’s story. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and wrongfully imprisoned, Joseph suffered for years. Yet, in the end, he rose to power in Egypt and saved many lives during a famine. What seemed like a tragedy was actually part of God’s greater plan:

📖 Genesis 50:20 - “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

This life is temporary, but what comes after is eternal. In Heaven, there is no suffering, no pain, and no sorrow:

📖 Revelation 21:4 - “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

We may not always understand God’s plan, but we can trust that He is good, He is just, and He is leading us toward something far greater than we can imagine.
